In our field in Gaberje, we plant every clove by hand in late October. Autumn garlic lies dormant through winter, grows in spring and is lifted in late June. We leave it in the field for two days so the soil on the roots can dry, then cure it under cover for six weeks. These guides follow the same practical calendar we use ourselves: when to prepare seed garlic, how to place each clove in the bed and how to keep the bulbs dry, dark and well ventilated after harvest.
